LEVEL: Beginner, ages 16+. You should be able to: operate a sewing machine, sew in a straight line, and have some recent sewing experience under your belt. If you’ve taken a learn to sew, you are ready for this workshop!
WORKSHOP DETAILS:
In this workshop we’ll make the Syd Tie Dress by Syd Graham.
The Syd Tie Top & Dress is a versatile pattern that allows you to make either a loose, full-length Top or a flowy, tiered, mid-calf Dress. With either option, you can add a 3/4-length puffy sleeve or go sleeveless. Whatever direction you go, the pattern features its signature front-tie closure.
In this workshop you will be learning how to make the pattern fit your body, not just a toile.
WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS
- Sewing machine
- Sewing thread
- Clips or sewing pins
- Fabric and paper scissors
- Rotary cutter (optional)
- Cutting mat
- Fabric: For this pattern, our top recommendation would be a woven cotton or linen with a moderate or fluid drape between 3-7 oz per square yard. Stiffer fabrics with a voluminous drape can be used, but may result in a “poofier” garment. Knit fabrics with a lot of stretch are not recommended, as they can cause the binding construction to be quite tricky.
WHAT WE WILL PROVIDE
You will receive an A0 (large paper copy) and a digital copy of the pattern at the end of the workshop so you can keep on creating.
